HOLDFAST

Mission-message continuity for degraded tactical networks — with internal Core, Adapt and Sentry layers.

HOLDFAST is a resilient mission-message continuity layer designed to preserve critical command, telemetry, custody and mission-evidence traffic over degraded bearers, mesh networks, relays and intermittent links.

HOLDFAST does not replace radios, waveforms, SDRs, encryption layers, mesh bearers or autonomy systems. It works above or alongside them to help decide whether critical messages should be sent, held, retried, forwarded, prioritised, preserved or flagged as ambiguous.

The Core Question

Not “what route exists?” but “what should happen to this message?”

HOLDFAST is not asking only what route exists. It is asking: given the current degraded network and mission state, what should happen to this message? Should it be sent now, held, retried, forwarded over a different bearer, prioritised, preserved as evidence, or flagged as ambiguous?

Transport

Routing moves packets.

Security

Cryptography verifies authenticity.

Resolvix

Is this message still fresh, custody-consistent, context-valid and safe to trust?

Three Internal Layers

Core. Adapt. Sentry.

Continuity

HOLDFAST Core

Custody, priority, store-forward behaviour and mission-message continuity. Establishes the baseline that critical command, telemetry and mission-evidence traffic is preserved across partition, delay, retransmission and relay change.

Bounded adaptation

HOLDFAST Adapt

Evidence-confirmed degraded-bearer adaptation when degradation persists long enough for bounded adaptation to help. Adapts to schedulable or persistent communications pressure; deliberately conservative under transient noise.

Receiver-visible uncertainty

HOLDFAST Sentry

Receiver-visible severity, uncertainty and evidence-quality estimation when communications evidence becomes ambiguous. Does not classify jammers, predict adversary behaviour or control RF systems — it estimates what the receiver can actually tell about the degraded state.

Scope

What HOLDFAST does. What it does not.

What we do

  • Preserve mission-message continuity
  • Govern priority and store-forward behaviour
  • Track custody and relay-path context
  • Estimate receiver-visible severity and uncertainty
  • Adapt cautiously when degradation persists
  • Publish continuity evidence for AURM-NET to consume

What we do not do

  • Replace radios, waveforms, SDRs or modems
  • Replace mesh routing or SATCOM bearers
  • Control RF systems or transmit power
  • Classify real jammers or attribute adversary behaviour
  • Claim anti-jam or anti-spoof validation before hardware evidence exists
Relationship with AURM-NET

HOLDFAST keeps the message alive. AURM decides whether it should be trusted.

HOLDFAST and Sentry produce continuity and uncertainty evidence under degraded network conditions. AURM-NET consumes that evidence alongside PNT, video, telemetry, custody and autonomy-state signals to determine whether a delivered message and the broader mission state should still be trusted.
